Friday fiblet: Safety Lecture

It’s a rough job working the abattoir dressing line but Giblets Jim always made me laugh.

One day he cut out his carcass’s heart and offered it to me saying “I adore ya Dora! Have my heart!”

The foreman told him to finish offaling. Jim cried “In jig time sir!” as he pulled kidneys, making the legs dance.

I laughed, then thought I saw a good comeback. I said “If you have so much time, give me a hand!”

I always cut the carcass’s hands off, but that’s why we don’t cut across stations. I’ll never forget Jim’s white face.
